BOTOX® Cosmetic in Miami: Common Questions and What to Expect
Before booking BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), you may want to understand the treatment areas, price, appointment process, and how long results can last.
At Med Aesthetics Miami, BOTOX® Cosmetic appointments are available in Coral Gables and Aventura, with pricing at $13.50 per unit. Your consultation is an opportunity to discuss your goals, review your medical history, and understand the proposed treatment before deciding.
BOTOX Cosmetic is a prescription medicine and is not suitable for everyone. Side effects and serious reactions are possible. Please read the treatment and safety information below, along with the full Prescribing Information, including the Boxed Warning and Medication Guide.
What is BOTOX Cosmetic, and how does it work?
BOTOX Cosmetic temporarily reduces activity in the muscles responsible for certain expression lines. It works beneath the skin’s surface, where repeated movements such as frowning, squinting, and raising the eyebrows contribute to those lines.
The treatment is FDA-approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and vertical bands connecting the jaw and neck, known as platysma bands, in adults.
BOTOX Cosmetic is a specific branded medicine. Do not use the name to describe every wrinkle-relaxing injectable or dermal filler.
What are neurotoxin injectables?
In cosmetic practice, the terms neurotoxin injections and neuromodulators often refer to prescription botulinum toxin treatments that temporarily reduce selected muscle activity. BOTOX Cosmetic is one product in this category, not a name for the entire category.
BOTOX Cosmetic, Jeuveau, and Dysport have their own formulations, approved uses, and dosing instructions. Their units are product-specific and must not be treated as interchangeable. A consultation should establish which product is appropriate for the area being assessed.
These medicines are different from dermal fillers. Our guide to injectable treatments in Miami explains the broader treatment categories.
Which facial areas can be treated?
The upper-face treatment areas covered by the product’s approved uses are:
| Area | What this means |
| Frown lines | The vertical lines between the eyebrows, sometimes called “11 lines” |
| Forehead lines | The horizontal lines across the forehead |
| Crow’s feet | The lines extending from the outer corners of the eyes |
Your clinician assesses facial movement and the areas you would like addressed. Under the prescribing instructions, we treat forehead lines together with the frown-line area. You can discuss one concern at your consultation without assuming that every area needs treatment.
For information about appointments at our practice, visit our BOTOX Cosmetic treatment page.
How much does BOTOX Cosmetic cost in Miami?
At Med Aesthetics Miami, BOTOX Cosmetic costs $13.50 per unit. Your total depends on the number of units in your treatment plan.
At this rate:
| Number of units | Calculated price |
| 20 units | $270 |
| 30 units | $405 |
| 40 units | $540 |
| 50 units | $675 |
These figures are price calculations, not recommended doses or fixed treatment packages.
For more unit-price examples, read our BOTOX Cosmetic cost guide for Miami. When comparing quotes, confirm the product name, treatment areas, proposed unit count, total price, and whether any minimum purchase, consultation fee, or follow-up charge applies.
How many units will I need?
An online guide cannot determine your personal treatment plan. Your clinician needs to assess your facial anatomy, movement, medical history, and goals.
For context, the BOTOX Cosmetic prescribing information lists these labeled upper-face doses:
| Treatment area | Labeled dose |
| Frown lines | 20 units |
| Crow’s feet, both sides combined | 24 units |
| Forehead lines together with frown lines | 40 units total |
| Forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet | 64 units total |
These are product-label reference amounts, not a recommendation that every person should have every area treated.
A unit is a measure of the medicine’s activity. BOTOX Cosmetic units are specific to this product and cannot be directly compared with, or converted into, the units of another botulinum toxin product.
What does “three areas” or “full face” mean?
Ask the clinic to define the treatment areas and unit count. A package description alone does not tell you exactly what is included.
For the combination of forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, the manufacturer’s reference is 64 units. At our $13.50-per-unit rate, that calculates to $864. This is a pricing example based on the labeled combination, not an individual treatment recommendation or a package offer.
Your consultation should establish which concerns can be addressed and the total price before treatment.
How quickly will I see results?
For forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, the manufacturer states that changes may begin within one to two days, with full results in 30 days. Individual results vary.
The appearance immediately after your appointment is not the finished result. Ask your clinician when to assess the outcome and whether a review appointment is appropriate.
For a wedding, photoshoot, or another scheduled event, discuss the date before choosing your treatment appointment.
How long does BOTOX Cosmetic last?
The manufacturer states that results for forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet may last up to four months. The effect is temporary, and duration varies by individual.
A particular unit count does not guarantee a particular duration. For example, 40 units should not be interpreted as a promise of four months of results.
Your clinician can discuss what to expect from the proposed treatment and review your response over time.
How often can I have treatment?
The prescribing information states that the safety and effectiveness of dosing more frequently than every three months have not been clinically evaluated. Ask your clinician about timing based on your response and treatment history.
Three or four appointments per year should not be treated as a requirement for everyone. Your clinician should consider the timing of your previous treatment, your response, and whether another treatment is appropriate.
Keep a record of the product you received and the treatment date, particularly when changing providers.
Can the results look natural?
Discuss the changes you would like to see and the facial expressions you would like to retain. A natural-looking result is a treatment goal to discuss, rather than something a clinic can guarantee.
Outcomes vary between individuals. Your clinician can discuss what may be realistic for your facial anatomy, expression, and treatment goals.
During your consultation, explain what “natural” means to you. For example, you may want to discuss the appearance of the lines between your eyebrows while also explaining how important facial movement is to you.
Is there a best age to start?
No single starting age is recommended for everyone. BOTOX Cosmetic’s approved cosmetic uses are for adults, and an assessment considers your skin, the lines you want addressed, your health, and your goals.
Your age alone does not mean you need treatment. A consultation can help you understand whether the treatment’s approved uses match your concerns and what improvement may be possible.
Can men have BOTOX Cosmetic?
Yes. BOTOX Cosmetic’s approved adult uses are not limited to women. The manufacturer also provides treatment information and examples involving men.
The assessment should focus on the individual. Describe the areas you would like addressed, the degree of change you are seeking, and any previous injectable treatments.
What happens at a first appointment?
At Med Aesthetics Miami, your visit starts with a discussion of the changes you want to see. We assess your facial movement, discuss previous treatments, and explain the proposed approach. Before deciding, ask which areas would be treated, what the treatment may achieve, what risks apply to you, and the total cost. You should also understand the aftercare instructions and how to contact the clinic with questions.
You can meet our team before booking and ask who will assess and treat you at your preferred location.
How long does treatment take, and does it hurt?
The manufacturer says the injection portion of an upper-face treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Your complete visit will take longer when it includes a consultation, medical-history review, and discussion of the treatment plan.
The injections may feel like brief pinches. Tell your clinician about any concerns about needles or discomfort so you can discuss them before proceeding.
How should I prepare for my consultation?
Bring a list of your prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements. Tell your clinician about previous cosmetic procedures and injectable treatments, including the product names and dates when available.
Also disclose relevant medical conditions, allergies, previous reactions, and whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. This information helps your clinician assess whether treatment is appropriate.
Do not stop prescribed medication on your own to prepare for a cosmetic appointment. Ask your treating clinician and the prescriber about any proposed medication changes.
Can I return to work afterward?
Many people return to everyday activities after treatment. However, redness, swelling, soreness, or bruising can occur, so an immediate return to your routine does not guarantee no visible signs of treatment.
Tell the clinic about any important meetings, photographs, or events when arranging your appointment. Ask how the aftercare instructions apply to your usual work and activities.
What should I do after treatment?
Follow the instructions your treating clinician provides. General advice from the American Academy of Dermatology includes avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated areas and being gentle when applying makeup.
Ask when you can resume strenuous exercise and any treatments that involve pressure or massage over the face. Do not assume that the same aftercare schedule applies to every cosmetic procedure.
What is the four-hour rule?
The phrase refers to advice to remain upright for several hours after injections. Some clinicians recommend this, including the three-to-four-hour advice described by Cleveland Clinic. The manufacturer’s US prescribing information does not specify a universal four-hour upright rule.
Ask your clinician what they recommend for your treatment, and follow their instructions.
Can I exercise or wear makeup?
Aftercare advice about exercise can differ between providers. Ask your clinician when to return to your usual workout rather than relying on a general rule online.
When applying makeup, avoid pressing or rubbing over the injection sites. Ask the clinic when to resume your normal skincare and makeup routine, particularly if the skin remains irritated.
When should I book before a wedding or another event in Miami?
Tell the clinic your event date when you book, especially for your first treatment.
The manufacturer’s upper-face results timeline extends to 30 days, and temporary bruising or swelling may also affect your plans. Discuss an appointment comfortably ahead of the event rather than relying on a last-minute treatment. Your clinician can help you choose the timing, but cannot guarantee a particular appearance by a specific date.
For a visit to Miami, also discuss how follow-up will be handled after you return home.
How is BOTOX Cosmetic different from dermal fillers?
BOTOX Cosmetic acts on selected muscles involved in expression lines. Dermal fillers are a separate treatment category used for concerns involving volume and contour, depending on the specific product and treatment area.
For example, a consultation about frown lines may involve a different assessment from one about cheek volume or lip fullness. You can read more about these categories on our injectables page.
A consultation can help determine which treatment, if any, matches your concerns.
Can I combine it with other aesthetic treatments?
Discuss other planned procedures before booking them together. The appropriate sequence depends on the treatments, the areas involved, and your recovery needs.
Tell your clinician about any upcoming fillers, facials, laser treatments, or other procedures, including those booked elsewhere. Don’t assume you can combine appointments just because they address different concerns.
How do I choose a provider in Miami?
Ask who will perform the assessment and injections, what their qualifications are, and what experience they have with the treatment you are considering.
The consultation should include realistic expectations, your medical history, the proposed cost, and any risks specific to you. Ask how they’ll handle questions or concerns after the appointment.
At Med Aesthetics Miami, you can review our team and contact the clinic to confirm who is available at your preferred location.

Important treatment and safety information
BOTOX Cosmetic is a prescription medicine. Do not receive it if you are allergic to its ingredients, have had an allergic reaction to another botulinum toxin product, or have an infection at a planned injection site.
Your clinician needs to know about muscle or nerve conditions, swallowing or breathing difficulties, previous facial surgery, and all medicines and supplements you take. Tell them about any other botulinum toxin injections, particularly within the previous four months. Pregnancy and breastfeeding should also be discussed because important safety information is limited.
Possible side effects include injection-site discomfort, swelling or bruising, headache, dry eyes, and eyelid or eyebrow drooping. Other reactions are possible, and your clinician should discuss the risks relevant to you.
The product carries a Boxed Warning about effects spreading beyond the injection site. Serious symptoms can develop hours to weeks after treatment. Seek urgent medical help for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing. Serious allergic reactions also require immediate medical attention. If you develop weakness, dizziness, or vision problems, do not drive or operate machinery.
Read the full Prescribing Information, including the Boxed Warning and Medication Guide, and discuss the benefits, risks, and alternatives with your clinician. This guide provides general information and does not replace an individual medical assessment.
